"According to local tradition, in 1483 a pilgrim from Cremona, called Stefano Mangell stopped to pray in front of this icon that was displayed on a roadside shrin next to a small pear tree (hence the name Piratello). He tried to light a candle an place it in front of the shrine, but when he did so the flame leapt up and heard a voice saying ""Go to the city of Imola and tell the people the to build a shelter over this shrine"". This plaque reproduces all the details of the original, including the hand of the Baby Jesus clutching a fold of his mother's cloak. Both figures are wearing patrician crowns on their heads. The plaque is handmade by expert craftsmen and features the smooth and gentle forms of typical 19C sacred icons."
