The Virgin Mary is embracing Baby Jesus and both are wearing patrician crowns held by three flying cherubs, as depicted in the silver facing that decorates the fresco in the sanctuary. The moulded figures are smooth and precise. The frame is almost definitely a copy of a wooden one. A range of colours is used, in large, even, carefully defined areas. The relationship between the fundamental colours, including the greens and violets, creates a sense of lively, joyful harmony.
