This half length, sitting Virgin Mary is holding the Baby Jesus on her lap on the left. At the bottom a bas-relief fillet bears the inscription: B.V. Di POGGIO (Our Lady of Poggio). The plaque is a copy of the Our Lady of Poggio icon, kept in the sanctuary in Castel S.Pietro. This particular belief originated in 1550 when the Virgin Mary appeared to poor, sick old woman, an event that gave rise to a series of miracles.
