This half length Virgin Mary is holding the Baby Jesus on her right side. Her head is uncovered and her long hair reaches down to her shoulders. The ribbon with its modular motifs at the base of the plaque is of particular note, as this was a common feature of antique icons whose artists clearly wished to identify their images with a feature typical of "real portraits".
