The Virgin Mary is embracing Baby Jesus and both are wearing patrician crowns held by three flying cherubs, as depicted in the silver facing that decorates the fresco in the sanctuary. The moulded figures are smooth and precise. The frame is a copy of other wooden ones. A range of colours is used, in large, even, carefully defined areas. The harmony between the warm and cold hues is intensified by the midnight blue used for the background and the decorative areas of the frame.
