The Virgin Mary is embracing Baby Jesus while three flying cherubs hold patrician crowns on their heads. The moulded figures are smooth and precise with rounded, highlighted outlines that optimizes the plaque's oval composition. The shell at the bottom of the plaque is a reference to pilgrims, as a pilgrim was the first person to experience a miracle in front of the Piratello icon. A range of colours is used, in large, even, carefully defined areas. The harmony between the warm and cold hues is repeated in the decorative areas of the frame.
