Our Lady of the Mill, Lugo. Dimensions: 35 x 21.5 x 2.7 cm.

The plaque features an image of a sitting, half length Virgin Mary holding the standing Baby Jesus on her knees on the right. Both figures are wearing pearl halos and the background includes a festoon of flowers with crowns tied to it with ribbons. At the bottom of the frame there is also a band for the inscription. The image reproduces Our Lady of the Mill, which is venerated in the sanctuary of the same name in Lugo. According to local legend, a merchant threw the image in a ditch just outside Lugo because it had been damaged during his journey. Some shepherds found the pieces, put it back together and hung it on a tree. A number of miracles then immediately took place.
